Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's soccer team opens the 2024 season on Thursday playing host to Malone at 6 p.m. inside Sox Harrison Stadium.
The Game
This will be the fourth ever matchup between the Scots and the Pioneers. Edinboro holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with Malone earning a 1-0 victory in the last meeting a season ago.
Returning Scoring
The Scots return their top three scorers from a season ago including Second-Team All-PSAC West selection
Emily Vogel. Vogel finished the season with nine goals and three assists for 21 points.
Reece Enochs netted 14 points on five goals and two helpers while
Maggie Hays returns after chipping in a team-high five assists last season.
Between the Pipes
In net,
Kaylee Lauriel returns after starting all 18 games last season. She made 68 saves with a .687 save percentage and a 1.74 goals-against average.
Preseason Polls
Edinboro was selected fifth in the PSAC-West in the annual Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Pioneers were tied for ninth in the G-MAC Preseason Poll.
The Pioneers
The team's leading scorers from 2023 in Gracie Ashton and Brynn Mowrer
return to the squad in 2024 as a sophomore and junior. The duo combined for eleven goals and seven assists. Amelia Henderhan started in 15 of the team's 17 matches in goal last season making 75 saves.
