Komen Foundation.  They will be wearing pink jerseys.

-Indiana(Pa.) has won the last two meetings in the series and owns a 54-22-4 lead in the all-time series.    In fact, Edinboro has not scored against the Crimson hawks since late in the 2009 metting, a 38-24 Boro win.  IUP won 18-0 in 2010 at a rainy Sox Harrison Stadium, and prevailed 19-0 a year ago.

-The Edinboro-IUP game will be telecast on a tape-delayed basis by the SPORTSfever Television Network.  The game can be seen on several cable systems, including ROOT Sports out of Pittsburgh on Wednesday, October 17 at 8:00 p.m.   It is the first of three games that will be shown by the SPORTSfever Television Network

-Edinboro is in its seventh season under head coach Scott Browning.  The former long-time Boro assistant has led the Fighting Scots to a 48-25 record during that period, and tied mentor Tom Hollman for the most wins by a coach in his first six seasons.  A year ago Edinboro finished with a 7-4 record for the second straight season.

-The Fighting Scots were picked to finish fourth in the PSAC?West preseason poll, while Indiana(Pa.) was the preseason favorite along with California(Pa.).

-After playing three of its first four games on the road, Edinboro is in a stretch of back-to-back games at Sox Harrison Stadium and three of four at home.

-Edinboro returns six starters on offense and six on defense.  The offense is led by second team All-PSAC quarterback Cody Harris, who is in his third year as a starter.  Senior tight end Shawn Walker was a second team All-PSAC West pick in 2010.  Defensively, junior James Jackson was a 2011 first team All-PSAC West selection at cornerback and senior Branden Williams earned the same honor in 2008 and '09.  Jackson is a third team Beyond Sports Network preseason All-American.

-Edinboro faces an ambitious 2012 schedule.  The PSAC crossover slate has the Fighting Scots facing the top three teams from last year in the Eastern Division in Kutztown, Bloomsburg and LIU Post.  The three combined to go 27-8.  Throw in the usual Western Division rivals such as preseason favorites California(Pa.) and Indiana(Pa.), plus local rivals Gannon and Mercyhurst, and Edinboro has its work cut out in 2012.

The All-Time Series
-IUP leads 54-22-4
After posting back-to-back wins over the Crimson Hawks in 2008 and '09, Edinboro has lost the last two meetings via shutout.  IUP has won two of the last three meetings at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Last Meeting
-2011 -- Indiana(Pa.) 19, Edinboro 0
IUP?shut out Edinboro for the second year in a row, holding the Fighting Scots to 115 total yards with five turnovers.  The Edinboro turned in a strong effort in its own right, limiting IUP to 295 yards, but the Scots D spent too much time on the field (36:19).  IUP led 9-0 at the half on a safety early in the second quarter, followed by a 10-yard touchdown pass from Mike Box to Pat Brewer with just 22 seconds remaining.  They tacked on ten more points in the third quarter on a 56-yard pass from Box to Jon Ditto and a 46-yard field goal by Brett Ullman.  Unfortunately, the Boro offense was no match after Cody Harris went down on the first series of the third quarter with an injury.   (For complete game statistics see page 4)

The Coaches
-Scott Browning (Ohio State '81)  took over as Edinboro's 13th head coach on January 5, 2006, and in his first six seasons he tied the record for most wins by a coach during that period.  Browning is now in his seventh season with a 48-25 record, tying former mentor Tom Hollman for most wins in the first six seasons.  He was certainly no stranger to Fighting Scot football, however, serving as an assistant coach for the previous twenty years. While at Edinboro he has coached the offensive linemen, defensive backs and running backs, along with serving as the offensive coordinator.  Browning became the first head coach at Edinboro to debut with a win since Bill McDonald in 1969 when the Fighting Scots opened the 2006 season with a 28-14 win at West Chester.  He went on to lead Edinboro to a 6-5 finish, the most wins ever by a first-year coach.  That was followed by a 7-4 finish in 2007.  His next two Fighting Scot editions recorded a school-record tying nine wins.  in 2008 Edinboro ended the year at 9-2 and was ranked 20th in the final AFCA Top 25.  The Fighting Scots had a 9-4 record in 2009, making the NCAA?playoffs for the first time in his tenure.  Edinboro would end the year 24th in the AFCA poll.  The Boro has posted back-to-back 7-4 finishes in 2010 and 2011.

-Curt Cignetti (West Virginia '82) is in his second year at the helm of the football program at IUP.  The son of former legendary IUP coach Frank Cignetti, he led the Crimson Hawks to a 7-3 record a year ago.  Now in his 30th year of coaching, Cignetti has an impressive resume' that includes  four seasons as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator under Nick Saban at Alabama.  The Crimson Tide won the 2009 BCS national championship with a 14-0 record.  In addition to the national title, Cignetti was part of Alabama teams that posted a record of 33-3 over his last three regular seasons, including 29 consecutive regular season victories, won the 2008 and 2009 SEC West championships and earned a berth in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. Cignetti joined the staff at Alabama after spending seven seasons (2000-06) as the recruiting coordinator at North Carolina State while also coaching tight ends from 2000-02 and 2005-06 and quarterbacks during the 2003 and 2004 campaigns. The Wolfpack qualified for five bowl games during that time, including the 2002 Gator Bowl when N.C. State set a school record with 11 wins.  Cignetti has also had previous coaching stops at Pittsburgh, Davidson, Rice and Temple.

Last Week
-Edinboro 44, Gannon 24  -- a crowd of over 5,000 people at Sox Harrison Stadium enjoyed the Homecoming win as Edinboro remained perfect against Gannon.  Cody Harris threw for two touchdowns, covering 12 yards to Seth Hembree and 10 yards to Ben Eisel, and ran for two more, both on six-yard runs.  Harris completed 28 of 34 passes for 312 yards and ran for 46 more yards.  Alec Gluvna and Devin Ghafoor combined for a big special teams play as Gluvna blocked a Gannon punt and Ghafoor scooped it up and raced the remaining 18 yards for a touchdown.  That gave Edinboro a 37-10 lead.  The defense limited Gannon to 349 total yards and registered four sacks and three interceptions.
