ERIE, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2013) – The Edinboro men's tennis squad battled back from being down 3-0 after the doubles competition to beat West Liberty 5-4 at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa on Saturday afternoon.
With the match tied 4-4,
Kody Duncan was the lone Fighting Scot left to finish his match. Tied at one set apiece, Duncan went down 5-1 in the third set before storming back and taking the set 7-6, sealing the victory for Edinboro.
Matias Aignasse made his Edinboro debut, defeating Ivan Irazabal 6-2, 6-1 in singles competition. Also tasting victory for Edinboro were
Kevin Caldwell (6-4, 6-2),
Amir Talab (6-0, 6-0), and
Brandon Romain (6-1, 6-4).
West Liberty, previously ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association fell to 3-1 on the season. Edinboro was ranked eighth in the Atlantic by the ITA and improved their record to 4-0.
