EDINBORO , PA – The Edinboro men's tennis team secured the fourth overall seed in the 2013 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team championships, held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania April 19-20. They will face top seed West Chester in a rematch of an April 14 match that Edinboro won 5-4.
Edinboro (15-6, 3-2 PSAC) enters play winning five of their last seven matches down the stretch, including three wins over PSAC opponents.
Colin Bandell leads Edinboro with 18 wins, while
Brandon Romain (17-6) and
Kody Duncan (17-7) are right behind him.
Amir Talab (12-12),
Kevin Caldwell (11-11), and
James Cooper (7-3) look to fill out the starting six singles competitors for Edinboro.
West Chester (8-9, 4-1 PSAC) is the top seed and was on a seven-match winning streak before being cut down by the Fighting Scots last Sunday. Kutztown nabbed the second seed at 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the conference and will face Mercyhurst, who earned the third seed at 6-10 and 3-2 in the PSAC.
The championships will be held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and will get under way Friday, April 19 and will wrap up Saturday, April 20. The conference champion will get an automatic bid into the 48-team national championship tournament, which will begin with the Atlantic Regional on May 2.
