EDINBORO, PA – The visiting Mercyhurst Lakers upset the fifth-ranked Edinboro men's tennis team 5-4 on a beautiful spring day at Edinboro.
James Cooper recorded two wins to pace the Fighting Scots, who are now 13-6 on the season with just two regular season matches remaining.
Edinboro, ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region by NCAA.com, had a strong performance recorded by Cooper, who won his doubles match with
Kevin Caldwell 9-7. Cooper collected a singles victory to cap his great day with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mike Vineopal.
Colin Bandell (6-2, 6-5), and
Brandon Romain (6-2, 7-5) were the other Edinboro players to collect victories on the day.
Edinboro will finish with a weekend home stand starting Saturday against Millersville at 1 p.m. and concluding with the last regular season match of the year, a noon date with West Chester.
