Fighting Scots Drop Pair of Games in MEC/PSAC Crossover

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 1 | Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 2 WHEELING, WV (Sept. 21, 2013) – The Edinboro volleyball team fell to 7-5 on the season after suffering two losses in day two of the MEC/PSAC Crossover on Saturday, September 21st at Wheeling Jesuit. The Fighting Scots finished the event at 2-2 after capturing two victories on Friday over West Liberty and Charleston (WV).

On Saturday, Edinboro first surrendered a hard-fought loss to Fairmont State by a score of 3-2. The two teams traded wins in the first four games, (24-26, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23) before the Fighting Falcons earned a 15-9 victory in the fifth game to seal the win.

Five Fighting Scots posted double-digit dig totals, paced by Haley Marett's 35, followed by Katie Felix with 21, Tabitha Meeks with 20, Marah Maycock with 19 and Jen Gruber with 12.

Maycock also led the Edinboro attack, recording 15 kills while Meeks added 10.  Felix dished out 37 assists in the match as well.

In the second game, the Fighting Scots dropped a three-game set to host Wheeling Jesuit, (7-25, 21-25, 14-25). Maycock once again fronted the Edinboro offense with 11 kills. Marett and Felix each posted 14 digs on the afternoon.

The Fighting Scots return to action on Friday, September 27th as they begin PSAC play at Gannon as part of a PSAC Crossover event. Edinboro takes on West Chester at 2 p.m. and Cheyney at 5 p.m. to kick off the conference schedule.
