Box ScoreEDINBORO, Pa. (October 11, 2014) - The Edinboro men's tennis team defeated John Carroll 6-3 for its first win of the 2014-15 season. Freshman
Anmol Sandhu was the only player to post two victories on the day. The Fighting Scots are now 1-1 this season while the Blue Streaks fall to 0-2.
Sandhu played in the number six singles position and secured a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Ian Kruela. The freshman then paired with
Thomas Pellegrino against Kruela and Tyler Cole for an 8-4 victory in the number three doubles games. Sandhu is now 4-1 this season in singles play and 2-3 when teamed with Pellegrino.
Edinboro's top singles player,
Matias Aignasse, fell to 1-4 this year in singles play, narrowly losing 7-6, 5-7, 10-8 to Jad Abdul-Aal. Aignasse rallied alongside
Kody Duncan for a doubles win against Abdul-Aal and Scott Adsit 8-6. This was the first time this season that Aignasse and Duncan teamed together after posting a 1-1 record last year.
Juan Estepa defeated Adsit 6-2, 6-0 in singles play. The last Fighting Scots victory came from
Brandon Romain over Dillon O'Brien 6-2, 6-1.
This was Edinboro's last match of the fall. The Scots will be off until February when they play West Liberty University. That is scheduled to take place on February 21 at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa.
