Fighting Scots Sweep West Liberty, 9-0

ERIE, Pa. (February 22, 2014) The Edinboro men's tennis team posted its first sweep of the season with a 9-0 victory over West Liberty on Saturday evening at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. The match marks the first 9-0 sweep for the Scots since topping Fairmont State 9-0 last season. Edinboro improves to 3-2 on the season with the win, while the Hilltoppers drop to 1-1.

Edinboro came into the match ranked seventh in the most recent ITA Atlantic Regional Rankings, while West Liberty is ranked sixth.

Matias Aignasse and Juan Estepa opened the match with a 9-7 victory over West Liberty's Andrew Ponder and Pablo Cimorra, followed with Bruno Borja and Kody Duncan recording an 8-4 win over Alex Hayden and Brandon Galici.

Thomas Pellegrino and James Cooper rounded out doubles competition with an 8-2 decision over Nick Conforti and Zach Kirkwood of the Hilltoppers.

Aignasse, Estepa, Borja, and Duncan picked up wins in singles competition, while Amir Talab and Brandon Romain recorded victories at the no. 5 and no. 6 spots, respectively.

Edinboro returns to action on February 28, when the Scots host Lake Superior State at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie. The match is set to begin at 12 noon.
