Men’s Tennis Team Falls to Walsh in Spring Opener

ERIE, Pa. (February 8, 2014) – The Fighting Scot men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Walsh on Saturday evening at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie. The contest marked the first match of the spring schedule for Edinboro. The Fighting Scots move to 2-2 in dual action on the season, while the Cavaliers improve to 6-1.

Matias Aignasse topped Pablo Cabezon in no. 1 singles in three sets, (4-6, 6-4, 10-7) to earn a victory in his first match since the 2012-13 campaign.

Edinboro newcomer Juan Estepa triumphed in no. 2 singles over Ross Whittaker (2-6, 7-5, 10-3) in his first competition with the Scots.
Amir Talab defeated Louis Thomas (6-0, 6-0) in no. 5 singles to improve to 4-3 in singles play on the season.

Walsh swept doubles competition for the match, 3-0 to capture the win.

Edinboro returns to action on February 22, when the Fighting Scots host West Liberty at the Westwood Racquet Club. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
