Fighting Scots Top Shepherd in Non-Conference Tilt, 6-3

EDINBORO, Pa. (April 2, 2014) – The Edinboro men's tennis team defeated visiting Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-3 in Edinboro. The Fighting Scots won five of six matches in singles play en route to the victory. Edinboro improves to 9-8 on the season with the win, while the Rams fall to 6-7.

The duo of Matias Aignasse and Juan Estepa started the day with an 8-4 triumph at no. 1 doubles over Shepherd's Michael Lesko and Steve Kolumban.

Aignasse, Bruno Borja, and Estepa earned hard-fought wins in singles play. All three Fighting Scots used three sets to defeat their opponents. Aignasse bested Chris Pratt at no. 1 singles by scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 7-6 (8-6), while Borja posted a 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 victory at no. 2 singles. Estepa collected a 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-4 win at the no. 3 singles position.

Amir Talab and Brandon Romain sealed the victory for the Scots with victories at the no. 5 and 6 singles positions, respectively.

Edinboro returns to action on Friday, April 4, when the Fighting Scots travel to Millersville.
