WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 5, 2014) – The Fighting Scot men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 6-3 defeat of PSAC foe West Chester on Saturday afternoon. Edinboro improved to 11-8 overall and 3-1 in PSAC play, while the Rams fell to 4-7 and 1-1 in the conference.
The Fighting Scots won four of six singles matches, paced by
Matias Aignasse at the no. 1 singles spot. Aignasse boosted his record to 13-3 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jared Howatt.
Bruno Borja moved to 14-9 on the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win at no. 2 singles, while
Juan Estepa (11-5) won his fifth consecutive match with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the no. 3 singles position.
Brandon Romain added a 6-2, 6-2 win at no. 5 singles, improving his record to 9-8 on the season.
The doubles duo of
Bruno Borja and
Brandon Romain topped Connor Dunn and Andrew Peterson by a score of 8-3, while the tandem of
Thomas Pellegrino and
James Cooper also picked up an 8-3 victory in doubles play.
Edinboro returns home to host Fairmont State tomorrow, April 6 at 12 noon.
