EDINBORO, Pa. (April 6, 2014) – The Edinboro men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match with a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Fairmont State on Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Scots have won four straight matches for the first time since winning five consecutive matches in dual action in the fall of 2012. Edinboro improves to 12-8 on the season with the win, while the Fighting Falcons fall to 0-11.
Matias Aignasse did not surrender a point at no. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph, improving to 14-3 on the season.
Juan Estepa won his sixth consecutive singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the no. 3 spot to boost his record to 12-5 this spring.
Bruno Borja and
Brandon Romain both earned their fourth straight victory in singles play against Fairmont State at the no. 2 and 5 singles positions, respectively.
Amir Talab and Romain each collected shutout wins over their opponents by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
The duo of
Thomas Pellegrino and
James Cooper rounded out doubles competition for the Fighting Scots with an 8-2 victory at the no. 3 spot.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Tuesday, April 8, hosting PSAC foe Mercyhurst.
