HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 13, 2015) – The Edinboro men's tennis team was narrowly defeated by Charleston (W. Va.) by a score of 5-4 in a matchup of regionally-ranked squads on Friday night at the Van der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Fighting Scots, ranked third in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional Rankings, dropped to 5-5 with the loss. The Golden Eagles, who sit sixth in the regional rankings improved to 5-1.
Edinboro won two of three doubles matches on the night. The duo of
Bruno Borja and
Matias Aignasse earned an 8-5 triumph at No. 2 doubles, while
Anmol Sandhu and teammate
Juan Estepa were victorious by a margin of 8-3 at the third doubles slot.
Vitor Albanese collected a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 2 singles position, and Estepa collected his second victory on the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at fourth singles.
Edinboro now returns home to take on the University of the District of Columbia on March 20 at 4 p.m.
