FAIRMONT, W. Va. (March 29, 2015) – The Edinboro men's tennis team defeated Fairmont State 8-1 after being edged by West Virginia Wesleyan 5-4 on Sunday in Fairmont, W. Va. The Fighting Scots moved to 9-6 on the season with the split. Fairmont State dropped to 4-5 while West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 3-5 with the win.
West Virginia Wesleyan 5, Edinboro 4 The matchup featured two regionally-ranked opponents as Edinboro is fifth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Region Rankings, while the Bobcats are fifth.
The tandem of
Matias Aignasse and
Bruno Borja won its third doubles match in a row with an 8-5 at the No. 2 doubles slot.
In singles play,
Vitor Albanese defeated Joel Izquierdo 6-2, 6-4 at the top singles position. Izquierdo is the 10th-ranked player in the latest ITA Atlantic Region Singles Rankings.
Borja and
Juan Estepa collected victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

Daniel Fernandez earned an 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles followed by
Anmol Sandhu and Rafaele Fusulan topped their opponent 9-7 at third doubles.
Edinboro won five of six singles matches on the day, with Borja, Fernandez, Estepa, Romain and Fusulan all picking up wins.
