ALLENTOWN, Pa. (March 31, 2015) – A pair of Edinboro football players will take part in the Inaugural 2015 Globe Bowl presented by the National Bowl event company. Seniors
Jimmy Grove (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) and
Thomas Dover (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) will participate in the game on Sunday, April 12 at Salisbury High School Stadium in Allentown.
The Globe Bowl is a post-season game featuring seniors from Division I, II and III and NAIA schools. The players will practice for two days before playing in the contest. The Globe Bowl organizers are responsible for the NFL-scouted National Bowl and FCS Bowl attended by over 10 NFL teams and 40 NFL scouts. The Globe Bowl is focused on other leagues besides the NFL in the USA and abroad. Representatives of the Canadian Football League and arena teams are scheduled to scout the players.
Grove was a four-year performer for the Fighting Scots at linebacker. The 6'1", 215 lb. native of Bradford, Pa. appeared in all 11 games last fall, finishing with seven solo tackles and 17 assists for 24 total tackles. He added a pass broken up and a fumble recovery. He finished with a career-high 44 tackles in 2013 while starting six contests. He recorded a career-high 10 tackles against Bloomsburg in 2013.
Dover transferred to Edinboro from West Georgia this fall. In his lone season as a Fighting Scot, the 6'2", 265 lb. defensive lineman from Williamsburg, Va. appeared in all 11 games. He finished with 14 solo and 15 assisted tackles for 29 total stops, with 6.5 tackles for losses and 3.5 sacks, which ranked fourth on the team. He forced a pair of fumbles and recovered one.
