ERIE, Pa. (April 8, 2015) – The Edinboro men's tennis team claimed victories in the top three singles slots as well as two matches in doubles competition en route to a 5-4 triumph over PSAC local rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa. The Fighting Scots, ranked sixth in the initial NCAA Atlantic Regional Rankings, improved to 10-6 overall and 3-0 in PSAC action with the win. The Lakers, who are second in the Regional Rankings, fell to 10-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.
Vitor Albanese extended his winning streak in singles play to six matches with a win at the top singles position, while
Bruno Borja won his fifth consecutive singles match with a triumph at third singles.
Matias Aignasse earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 singles slot.
Borja and Aignasse also captured a win at No. 2 doubles. In addition, the duo of
Daniel Fernandez and
Juan Estepa won by a score of 8-4 at third doubles.
Edinboro returns to action on April 13 hosting Roberts Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
