MANHEIM, Pa. (May 25, 2015) – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced its All-Academic Teams, with Edinboro wrestlers
Vic Avery (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) and
Vince Pickett (Galloway, Ohio/Central Crossing) earning All-Academic accolades.
Avery was one of 28 All-Americans to earn NWCA All-Academic honors. The redshirt junior captured All-American honors for the first time after finishing third at 184 lbs. at the NCAA Division I National Championships. A Comprehensive Business Administration major with a 3.21 GPA, Avery ended the year with a 34-7 record. He won his second EWL championship and second PSAC title, along with taking fifth place at the Midlands Championships.
A junior, Pickett earned his first trip to Nationals as he won the 197 lb. EWL championship. He also claimed his first PSAC crown. Pickett ended the year with a 17-18 record. He is an Early Childhood Education major with a 3.24 GPA. He was also named to the 2014 NWCA All-Academic Team.
