Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 2 ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2015) – The Edinboro volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon while competing in the PSAC Crossover at Mercyhurst. The Fighting Scots won 3-1 over Lock Haven by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 20-25, and 25-22, before suffering a four-game loss to defending PSAC champion, 21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 16-25. Edinboro is now 13-2 overall and 3-1 in PSAC West action.
The win over Lock Haven was the tenth straight for the Fighting Scots.
Challen Litwiler led the way as the sophomore finished with 20 kills and 20 digs. Freshman
Jacqui Mullins added 8 kills, with
Latoya Hutchinson and
Sydney Trathen adding 7 kills apiece.
Marah Maycock had a career-high 31 digs. Trathen finished with 45 assists, 12 digs, and 3 total blocks.
Megan Screptock, another freshman, had 17 digs.
Edinboro was looking to approach the best start since the 1994 team began the year at 18-1, but Pitt-Johnstown put a halt to that with the four-game win. Litwiler had 14 kills, 18 digs, and a pair of service aces. Trathen contributed 8 kills and 24 assists, while Screptock had 23 digs and Maycock 17. Hutchinson had 4 total blocks.
After beginning the year with 15 straight matches on the road, Edinboro will finally have an opportunity to take the court at McComb Fieldhouse on Tuesday, September 29. The Fighting Scots will host Daemen in a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
