The Game Story
  • Edinboro (2-5) hits the road Wednesday for its final non-conference game of the year at Notre Dame (Ohio) (6-2). Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. from Murphy Gymnasium.
  • This is the first-ever meeting between the Fighting Scots and the Falcons. Notre Dame (Ohio) started men's basketball in 2001-02 and joined the Mountain East Conference in 2013-14.
  • The Fighting Scots look to reverse a five-game losing streak after a 2-0 start to the year. They fell to PSAC East opponents East Stroudsburg, 107-70, on Saturday and West Chester, 81-70, on Sunday.
  • Wednesday's contest features two of Division II's top scorers. Edinboro redshirt junior guard Jaymon Mason is sixth in the PSAC with 20.6 ppg., while Notre Dame (Ohio) junior forward Will Vorhees leads the MEC and ranks eighth nationally with 25.0 ppg.
  • Jaymon Mason netted 30 points against West Chester for his sixth career 30-point game and second of the season. He passed Jose Davis for 27th all-time with 1,078 career points.
  • Jaymon Mason is ninth in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage (.429), making 21-of-49 threes. He is third on the team with 6.0 rpg.
  • Senior forward Mikael Anderson logged his first career double-double against West Chester with 18 points and 12 rebounds. He is second on the team with 10.6 ppg. and fourth with 5.0 rpg.
  • Sophomore center Jack Frank leads the team with 6.6 rpg., while junior center Andre Frederick is second with 6.3 rpg. Frank is a transfer from Lees-McRae, while Frederick is a transfer from Division I Robert Morris.
  • The Falcons went 21-11 in 2015-16 and reached the MEC Finals, defeating fifth-ranked Fairmont State and fourth-ranked Wheeling Jesuit in the conference tournament.
  • The Falcons have won three of their last four games, including conference wins over West Virginia State, 81-79, last Thursday and Charleston, 75-70, on Saturday.

  • Edinboro hung tight with West Chester in the first half, trailing, 35-31, at the break. The Fighting Scots took a 39-37 second-half lead on a Mikael Anderson layup, but the Golden Rams responded with a 14-0 run to break the game open.
  • West Chester forced Edinboro into 24 turnovers as they held a 34-9 lead in points off turnovers.
  • The Golden Rams held a 36-10 lead in points in the paint.

  • Charleston led, 54-47, in the second half before Oliver Megins drilled back-to-back threes to ignite an 8-0 Falcons run.
  • Notre Dame (Ohio) took the lead for good on a Ja'Sean Lewis tip-in for a 67-66 advantage with 4:18 to play.
  • Will Vorhees finished with a team-high 22 points with eight rebounds. Kyauta Taylor had 19 points with seven boards, while Oliver Megins netted 12 markers.

Edinboro: Pat Cleary, Edinboro '99 (41-45, 4th Year)
  • Pat Cleary was officially introduced as Edinboro's tenth head coach on March 26, 2013 after head coach Greg Walcavich announced his retirement. Cleary served as Walcavich's assistant coach for 14 years.
  • Cleary's teams have improved each year since his appointment, with his 2015-16 team earning the third seed in the PSAC West Tournament with a 15-11 overall record and 14-8 league mark.
  • He made the playoffs for the first time in 2014-15 with a 14-13 record, a four-game improvement over his first year, after being chosen to finish eighth in the PSAC West preseason poll. His first Boro squad finished 10-16 in 2013-14.
 
Notre Dame (Ohio): Tim Koenig, Case Western Reserve '06 (54-46, 4th year)
  • Tim Koenig was named the third head coach in Falcons' history on June 5, 2013.
  • Koenig's teams have improved each year since his arrival. They went 21-11 in 2015-16 and reached the MEC Championship.
  • He was an assistant coach for the Falcons under Kevin Bille from 2006-12 before a one-year stint as an assistant coach for Lake Erie during the 2012-13 season.

  • Logged 30 points on Sunday against West Chester for his sixth career 30-point game. He also moved in 27th all-time with 1,078 career points.
  • Became the 28th Fighting Scot to reach the 1,000 career-point milestone at Millersville on November 19.
  • Was the third-fastest to react the 1,000-point mark, doing so in 55 games. Tyrone Mason, Jaymon's father, and Kenny Tate both reached the mark in 51 games.
  • Ranks seventh in the PSAC with 20.6 ppg., while ranking third on the team with 6.0 rpg. He has posted two double-doubles this season, the first at Lake Erie with 31 points and ten rebounds and the second at Millersville with 16 points and ten boards.
  • Was named to the Division II Bulletin All-American preseason team after earning All-American honorable mention accolades last season. The 2015 PSAC West Freshman of the Year was selected to the PSAC West preseason team after being named to the NABC first team and All-PSAC West first team in 2015-16.
