The Game Story
  • Edinboro (2-6, 0-4 PSAC West) hosts Cheyney (1-7, 1-3 PSAC East) Saturday in a PSAC crossover contest at 3:00 p.m. in McComb Fieldhouse. The contest is the Fighting Scots' last game before winter break.
  • Edinboro Athletics will hold its annual Toys-For-Tots drive in conjunction with Saturday's men's and women's basketball games. Fans can earn free admission with the donation of a new toy.
  • The Fighting Scots look to enter the break with a win over the Wolves to end a six-game losing streak, their longest since 1985-86. Edinboro dropped a 102-86 non-conference contest at Notre Dame (Ohio) on Wednesday, and fell to league opponents East Stroudsburg and West Chester last weekend.
  • Redshirt junior guard Jaymon Mason posted 37 points against the Falcons for his second straight 30-point game. It is his first career back-to-back 30-point performance. The 6'3" guard passed Don Dougan for 26th all-time with 1,115 career points.
  • Jaymon Mason is second in the PSAC with 22.6 ppg., behind West Chester's Malik Jackson (23.3 ppg.). He is third on the team with 5.9 rpg.
  • Senior forward Mikael Anderson netted a career-high 20 points Wednesday with eight rebounds. It marked his third straight game scoring in double digits.
  • Mikael Anderson is second on the team with 11.6 ppg. and fourth with 5.4 rpg.
  • Junior center Andre Frederick leads the team with 6.3 rpg., while sophomore center Jack Frank is second with 6.0 rpg. Frank has started all eight games.
  • Wednesday's game at Notre Dame (Ohio) marked the debut of redshirt junior forward Jon Girvin. Girvin, who also plays defensive end for the football team, joined the team on Monday and grabbed two rebounds against the Falcons in four minutes of action.
  • Cheyney began the year at 0-5 before logging their first win against California (Pa.), 84-80, last Saturday. They lost to Slippery Rock, 58-36, on Sunday.
  • The Wolves were 2-24 overall and 1-21 in the PSAC East in 2015-16. They were picked to finish ninth in the PSAC East preseason poll.

  • After trailing by one point at the half, the Edinboro men's basketball team outscored Cheyney 45-24 over the final twenty minutes.
  • Edinboro pulled down 45 rebounds, including 15 offensive, to Cheyney's 34. The Scots outscored Cheyney, 36-10, in the paint.
  • Jaymon Mason led all scorers with 19 points. Henri Wade-Chatman added 14 points, with 12 of those coming in the second half. Casey Baker finished with ten points and nine rebounds.
  • Kevin Larkin finished with 17 points and four blocks. Rasahn Brinkley also scored 17 points.

  • Slippery Rock opened the game on a 22-6 run. Cheyney would get no closer than nine points the remainder of the game.
  • The Wolves shot 22.2 percent from the field (12-for-54), compared to 39.6 percent (21-for-53) for Slippery Rock.
  • Basir Fulmore led the Wolves with nine points, going 3-for-5 from 3-point range. Andre Allen finished with seven points, while Olin Ogu grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.  
 
The Head Coaches
Edinboro: Pat Cleary, Edinboro '99 (41-46, 4th Year)
  • Pat Cleary was officially introduced as Edinboro's tenth head coach on March 26, 2013 after head coach Greg Walcavich announced his retirement. Cleary served as Walcavich's assistant coach for 14 years.
  • Cleary's teams have improved each year since his appointment, with his 2015-16 team earning the third seed in the PSAC West Tournament with a 15-11 overall record and 14-8 league mark.
  • He made the playoffs for the first time in 2014-15 with a 14-13 record, a four-game improvement over his first year, after being chosen to finish eighth in the PSAC West preseason poll. His first Boro squad finished 10-16 in 2013-14.
 
Cheyney: Dawud Morris, Cheyney '09 (1-7, 1st Year; Acting Head Coach)
  • Dawud Morris was named Cheyney's acting head coach after serving as the team's assistant coach since 2012.
  • Morris played for the Wolves from 2006-08, and helped guide Cheyney to the NCAA Tournament in 2008.
  • He played professionally for the Milton Keynes Lions in the United Kingdom.
