ERIE, Pa (February 12, 2016) – A chilling winter did little to cool down the red-hot, undefeated Edinboro University men's tennis team Friday, as the Fighting Scots opened the spring leg of their season with a 9-0 win over Fairmont State at Westwood Racquet Club. Edinboro improved to 4-0 while the Fighting Falcons dropped to 1-4.

Edinboro entered the match ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. All six Edinboro players won their singles matches in two sets. Sophomore Vitor Albanese, the defending PSAC Singles Champion who was ranked second by the ITA, defeated Micah Hornak with 6-3 and 6-2 scores while 11th-ranked Daniel Fernandez beat Matheus Rodriguez, 6-2 and 6-0. Freshman Mauricio Santos won against Alec Moran, posting a pair of 6-0 wins. Freshman Camilo Moncayo, a newcomer on Edinboro's squad for the spring season, won his first singles match over Zach Hatfield with matching 6-0 scores.

Albanese and Moncayo paired up in their first ever doubles match together to beat Micah Hornak and Aaron by an 8-4 score. The eighth-ranked team of Fernandez and Mateus Santos beat Zach Hatfield and Noah Weber, 8-1, while Kevin Mboko and Mauricio Santos beat Ryan Leo and Alec Moran to complete the sweep, 8-1.

Edinboro returns to action on Saturday, February 20 for a home match against Walsh at 4:00 p.m.
