ERIE, Pa. (February 21, 2016) – The undefeated Edinboro University men's tennis team posted its third shutout win of the season Sunday with a 9-0 victory over Le Moyne at Westwood Racquet Club. The Fighting Scots improved to 6-0 while the Dolphins dropped to 0-6.
Five of Edinboro's six victories in the singles competition were determined in two sets.
Daniel Fernandez used three sets to defeat Benjamin Spoor, rallying from a 6-4 defeat in the first set to win the final two sets, 6-4 and 10-8.
Vitor Albanese beat James Gayvert with 6-3 and 6-2 scores while
Mauricio Santos defeated Jason Barton, 6-3 and 6-0.
Mateus Santos posted identical 6-4 victories to beat Hallam Doney.
Camilo Moncayo and
Thomas McCoy defeated Stephane Legris and Steven Procopio, respectively, by matching 6-2 scores.
In the doubles competition, the team of Albanese and Moncayo defeated Gayvert and Doney by an 8-5 decision. Fernande and Mateus beat Barton and Procopio, 8-1, while
Mauricio Santos and
Kevin Mboko posted an 8-3 win over Tyler Underwood and Spoor.
The Fighting Scots look to continue their undefeated season on Sunday, February 28 when they host Daemen at 5:00 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club.
