ERIE, Pa. (February 28, 2016) – Edinboro University men's tennis kept their undefeated season going Sunday, posting their third shutout win in four matches with a 9-0 win against Daemen. It marked Edinboro's fourth shutout victory of the year as the Fighting Scots improved to 7-0. The Wildcats dropped to 2-8.
All six Scots in the singles competition beat their opponents in two sets.
Vitor Albanese added another singles victory to his team-leading total, defeating Mark Veitengruber, 6-3 and 6-0, to improve to 14-1 on the year.
Mauricio Santos beat Joey Gentile with matching 6-3 scores.
Camilo Moncayo took an extra frame to defeat Andre LeMar in the first set, 7-5, only to down him, 6-1, in the second set.
Mateus Santos beat Gregory Lowe, 6-1 and 6-0,
Daniel Fernandez won over John LeMar, 6-3 and 6-1, and
Thomas McCoy defeated Adam Kerr, 6-2 and 6-3.
Edinboro handily claimed all three doubles competitions, with the closest contest being Albanese and Moncayo's 8-3 win over Gentile and Lowe. Fernandez and
Mateus Santos teamed up to down Justin Milner and Veitengruber, 8-2, while
Kevin Mboko and
Mauricio Santos blanked Andrew and John LeMar, 8-0.
The Fighting Scots compete again on Tuesday when they host Roberts Wesleyan at 11:30 a.m. at the Westwood Racquet Club.
