ERIE, Pa. (April 1, 2015) – The Edinboro University men's tennis team continued its strong season on Friday evening, posting their fifth straight win with an 8-1 victory over Charleston. The Fighting Scots, who were ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region by Oracle/ITA, improved to 15-2, while the Golden Eagles, ranked seventh in the region, dropped to 7-6. The match took place at the Westwood Racquet Club.
 
Edinboro captured five of six singles victories and swept the doubles competition. Vitor Albanese (23-2), who was ranked second in the Atlantic Region in singles, earned his team-high 23^rd win of the season against Alec Foote, the region's fourth-ranked singles player, 6-4 and 7-6 (4). Mateus Santos (17-4) picked up his 17^th win of the year (second-highest on team) with a 6-2 and 7-5 victory over Jamie Gibson. Mauricio Santos and Thomas McCoy each grabbed straight-set wins, while Daniel Fernandez, after dropping his first set, 6-2, came back to defeat Jacob Lorenz with a 6-1 win in the second set and a 10-8 victory in the third set.
 
Albanese and Camilo Moncayo, the fifth-ranked duo in the Atlantic Region, defeated Foote and Ivan Rajevac, 8-3, to run their record to 12-2. The tandem of Fernandez and Mateus Santos (15-6) earned their team-high 15^th doubles win of the year with a 9-7 win over James Gammell and William Humphrey. Kevin Mboko and Mauricio Santos (13-1) picked up Edinboro's third doubles win with a 9-7 decision over Lorenz and Varun Shah.
 
The Fighting Scots proceed with their season on Saturday with a home match versus West Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
