The Game Story
  • Edinboro (4-6, 2-4 PSAC West) looks to carry their winning ways into the new year on Tuesday when they travel to face Seton Hill (5-5, 2-4 PSAC West) at 7:30 p.m. The Fighting Scots have rebounded from a six-game losing streak, their longest since 1985-86, with PSAC wins against Cheyney, 85-81, on December 10 and California (Pa.), 76-71, on Friday.
  • Seton Hill looks to end a three-game losing streak after falling to PSAC opponents Shippensburg, Kutztown and Slippery Rock.
  • Edinboro and Seton Hill were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in the PSAC West preseason poll.
  • The Fighting Scots look to avenge a last-second, 76-74 defeat to Seton Hill in their last matchup on February 20, 2016. Edinboro had won three straight games against the Griffins prior to that. The Fighting Scots lead the all-time series 4-3.
  • Redshirt junior guard Jaymon Mason, senior forward Mikael Anderson and senior guard Sheldon Brogdon combined for 71 of Edinboro's 76 points in Friday's win over Cal.
  • Mason posted 33 points against the Vulcans for his fourth 30-point game of the season and eighth of his career. He is second in the PSAC with 22.8 ppg. and 21st all-time in career scoring at Edinboro with 1,162 career points.
  • Anderson tied his career high with 20 points, while grabbing seven rebounds. He is averaging 17.4 ppg. and 6.6 rpg. in his last five games.
  • Brogdon has started the last two games, his first starts of his career. He tallied 17 points against California(Pa.) after dropping in 30 points against Cheyney. He is sixth in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage at 44.9 percent (22-for-49).

  • Trailing 74-71, Edinboro's Henri Wade-Chatman hit a game-tying three with 17 seconds to play. Kameron Taylor responded for Seton Hill by hitting the game-winning jumper with one second remaining.
  • The second half featured three lead changes, with neither side leading by more than seven points.
  • The Fighting Scots shot 39.2 percent for the game (29-for-74), while the Griffins shot 50.0 percent (29-for-58), including 56.7 percent in the second half (17-for-30).
  • Wade-Chatman tied his career high with 32 points, going 5-for-9 from 3-point range. Tommy Scales recorded his sixth double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Jaymon Mason had 14 points.
  • Noah Davis netted 26 points, shooting 6-for-10 from behind the arc. Taylor finished with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Spencer Casson added ten boards with eight blocked shots.

  • The Fighting Scots connected on 8-of-20 3-pointers, while the Vulcans managed a 6-for-25 showing from behind the arc. Mason and Brogdon combined for seven of Edinboro's eight 3-pointers.
  • Edinboro led by double digits for most of the game until Cal used a 15-2 second-half run to tie the game at 69 with 1:29 remaining. Mason responded with a go-ahead 3-pointer to put the Fighting Scots ahead for good. Anderson and Mason then made a pair of free throws each in the final seconds.

  • Slippery Rock connected on 50.8 percent of their shots from the floor (32-for-63), while Seton Hill shot 44.8 percent from the field (26-for-58). The Rock outscored the Griffins in the paint, 46-24.
  • The Rock outrebounded the Griffins, 40-28, leading to a 17-2 advantage in second chance points.
  • Noah Davis finished tied for the game lead with 21 points, while Nathan Davis recorded 17 points off the bench.
 
The Head Coaches
Edinboro: Pat Cleary, Edinboro '99 (43-46, 4th Year)
  • Pat Cleary was introduced as Edinboro's tenth head coach on March 26, 2013 after head coach Greg Walcavich announced his retirement. Cleary served as Walcavich's assistant coach for 14 years.
  • Cleary's teams have improved each year since his appointment, with his 2015-16 team earning the third seed in the PSAC West Tournament with a 15-11 overall record and 14-8 league mark.
  • He made the playoffs for the first time in 2014-15 with a 14-13 record, a four-game improvement over his first year, after being chosen to finish eighth in the PSAC West preseason poll. His first Boro squad finished 10-16 in 2013-14.
 
Seton Hill: Tony Morocco (181-184, 14th year)
  • Tony Morocco was named Seton Hill's first-ever men's basketball head coach in 2002, with their first season coming in 2003-04.
  • The team he built from scratch made the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2007-08, where Morocco's squad finished 15-11.
  • Morocco's Griffins joined the PSAC in 2013-14, making the league tournament in 2014 and 2016.
  • He previously held college coaching positions at Saint Francis, Iowa, Long Beach State, UNLV, Saint Vincent and Point Park. He has also coached professional teams including the Rockford Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association and Arecibo of the Puerto Rican Superior League.

Jaymon Mason (G, R-Jr.)
  • Scored 33 points against California (Pa.) on Friday for his fourth 30-point game of the year and eighth of his career. He moved into 21st all-time with 1,162 career points.
  • Posted his first career back-to-back 30-point performance with 30 points against West Chester on December 4 and 37 markers against Notre Dame (Ohio) on December 7.
  • Second in the PSAC with 22.8 ppg. and second with .463 3-point field goal percentage (31-for-67).
  • Became the 28th Fighting Scot to reach the 1,000 career-point milestone at Millersville on November 19.
  • Was the third-fastest to reach the 1,000-point mark, doing so in 55 games. Only Tyrone Mason, Jaymon's father, and Kenny Tate have reached the mark faster, with both netting 1,000 points in 51 games.
  • Was named to the Division II Bulletin All-American preseason team after earning All-American honorable mention accolades last season. The 2015 PSAC West Freshman of the Year was selected to the PSAC West preseason team after being named to the NABC first team and All-PSAC West first team in 2015-16.
Mikael Anderson (F, Sr.)
  • Matched his career high with 20 points against California (Pa.). Previously scored 20 points against Notre Dame (Ohio) on December 7. Is averaging 13.1 points and 5.5 rebounds, but over the last five games those averages are 17.4 ppg. and 6.6 rpg. Is in his first year as a starter.
  • Recorded his first career double-double against West Chester on December 4 with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Scouting Seton Hill
  • Seton Hill opened the year at 5-2 before dropping their last three PSAC contests to Shippensburg, Kutztown and Slippery Rock. Their two conference wins came against Mansfield and Millersville.
  • The Griffins were picked to finish sixth in the PSAC West preseason poll.
  • Junior forward Spencer Casson leads NCAA Division II with 4.1 blocked shots per game. He had eight blocks against the Fighting Scots in their last meeting on February 20, 2016.
  • Casson, who was named the 2016 PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year, is third in the league in field goal percentage at .595 percent (50-for-84) and fifth in rebounding at 8.1 rpg. He ranks second on the team with 12.2 ppg.
  • Senior forward Noah Davis leads the Griffins and ranks eighth in the PSAC with 18.0 ppg. He scored a career-high 33 points against Edinboro in last year's first meeting, and has now scored 993 career points. He was a 2016-17 preseason All-PSAC West selection.
  • Freshman guard Nathan Davis, Noah Davis' brother, is third on the team averaging 10.2 ppg. He averages 18.4 minutes as one of Seton Hill's top reserves.
  • Seton Hill finished 2015-16 with a 13-14 overall record and 11-11 PSAC mark. They made the PSAC Tournament, but fell in the first round to Pitt-Johnstown, 81-72.
