Box Score (New/Sortable Format) ERIE, Pa. – The Edinboro men's tennis team didn't need any extra day rest as they defeated visiting Daemen, 6-3. The match was played on the indoor courts at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.
The Fighting Scots got things started off quickly with a sweep in doubles to go up 3-0. The top doubles team of
Vitor Albanese and
Mateus Santos didn't drop a game en route to their 8-0 win over Pablo Martinez and Jose Williamson of Daemen.
Daniel Fernandez and
Kevin Mboko paired up for an 8-3 win over David Gonzalez and Rico Martinez.
Teaming up for the first time this spring, Fighting Scots
Christian Roettger and
Thomas McCoy earned then 8-4 over Tim Georg and Fabian Wilde.
Albanese picked up in singles where he left off in doubles with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win over Gonzalez. Albanese is ranked No. 13 in the ITA National Poll and No. 2 in the ITA Atlantic Region.
Fernandez, who is ranked No. 16 in the Atlantic Region won his match at number two singles in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.
With the team match decided, Edinboro's
Kevin Mboko def. Pablo Martinez, 6-4, 6-2.
Edinboro's
Dishon Brooks defeated Daemen's James Schaab-Rozbicki, 8-1, in an exhibition match.
The Fighting Scots will return to the Westwood Racquet Club on Saturday, March 3 for a 3:00 p.m. match against the University of Charleston.
