EDINBORO, Pa. – Buoyed by a first place finishes by freshmen
Stefanie Parsons and
Jasmine Fehr, the Edinboro women's indoor track & field team finished in fourth place on Sunday at the 2018 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Edinboro hosted the event at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Center.
On the women's side, Shippensburg won its third PSAC crown in the last four years, outdistancing Slippery Rock, 106 points to 77. East Stroudsburg was third in the 16-team field with 66 points, while Edinboro totaled 61 points. Seton Hill rounded out the top five with 60 points.
The Raiders made it a clean sweep as they also took home first place in the men's competition for the eighth straight year. Shippensburg had 187 points to easily lead the 12-team field, with Slippery Rock second (123) and East Stroudsburg third (70).

Edinboro entered the second day of competition in a tie for fifth place. The Fighting Scots would have four All-PSAC performances. Parsons started the day off by winning the one mile run with an NCAA provisional time of 4:55.02. She won by close to seven seconds over second-place Summer Hill of California(Pa.) (5:02.58).
Abbey Lang made it a pair of All-PSAC performances in the event as the junior finished third with a time of 5:07.96.
Fehr followed that with a win in the 800-meter run, edging East Stroudsburg's Kaylyn West. She finished with a time of 2:15.71, while West crossed the finish line at 2:16.55.
Parsons and Fehr produced the first first-place finishes for Edinboro since 2016, when the Fighting Scots won three events. That year,
Gabby Schultz won the shot put, Rebekkah Bond won the 800-meter run and Ida Narvuvoll was first in the 3,000-meter run.
Parsons would add a second All-PSAC performance with a third place showing in the 3,000-meter run. The freshman posted a time of 10:08.29. She was followed closely by Fehr in fourth place with a PR time of 10:08.50. Parsons was named the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Track Athlete of the Meet for her performance.
Schultz fell just shy of All-PSAC honors, coming in fourth in the shot put. The junior posted a mark of 13.54m.
Hanna Wittman would add a PR in the triple jump with a distance of 10.70 meters.
