SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Edinboro track & field teams continued action on day two of the PSAC Championships with
Katie Slimon bringing home a PSAC Title in the 3K steeplechase.
In the final event of the day, Slimon took the lead after 600 meters and pulled away in the final 800 meters building off her 2.5 second lead to finish in 11:14.76 more than 14 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
The Scots also scored eight points in the heptathlon with
Michaela Mitchell and
Morgan Wilhelm each reaching the podium. Mitchell finished third overall. She took first in the high jump clearing 1.60 meters. She added a second-place finish in the long jump and third in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.30. Wilhelm was seventh. Her 15.59 in the 100-meter hurdles was her best finish at sixth.
Mackenzie Huston ran the fastest qualifying time in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.38 and advanced to Saturday's final.
Madeline Hammond also reached a Saturday final this one the 800-meter finishing eighth in 2:18.73.
The 4x100 relay team of Huston,
Sophia Allison, Arlandis Bernet and Annabelle Briones ran a 49.08 taking eighth and advancing to the final.
In men's action,
Connor Munson led the way taking fourth in the decathlon. Munson brought home first in the discus and the pole vault.
Camden Kirker was sixth including taking first in the javelin throw.
Edinboro had a pair of placers in the 3K steeplechase.
Wesley Kellermeier was seventh in a time of 9:44.59 while
Garrett Bartlebaugh was eighth with a time of 9:45.34.
Wieger De Wit brought home eighth in the high jump clearing 1.91 meters.
In preliminary action,
Donald Shymske advanced to the 800-meter final taking seventh in 1:54.62.
