Former Edinboro Player and Basketball Coach James "Duke" Sims Passes Away

EDINBORO, Pa. -- The Edinboro athletic department sends out its condolences to the family of James "Duke" Sims, who passed away on Saturday, March 18 at the age of 75. Duke was a former standout basketball player at Edinboro, and later went on to coach the Edinboro men's basketball team. He also served at the head coach at Penn State Behrend and was a scout for the NBA and coached in the Summer League.

20248Duke coached the Fighting Scots for five years from 1984-89, compiling a 70-66 record. His 1985-86 team finished with an 18-13 record. As a player, he was a key member of Edinboro teams that won the first-ever PSAC Western Division Championship and played in the NAIA District 30 Championship.

A 1984 inductee into the Edinboro Hall of Fame, Duke graduated from Edinboro in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in Education. He later earned a master's degree in Secondary Education from Duquesne.
