Parsons Finishes 15th in Mile Run at NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships

PITTSBURG, KS. – Edinboro University Stefanie Parsons finished 15th in the one mile run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday. Parson competed in the second of two preliminary heats as a total of 20 runners qualified. Nine runners qualified for Saturday's finals.

Parsons, a freshman from Acton, Ontario, finished with a time of 4:59.62, just slightly off her personal best 4:54,70, which is also the school record. She won the event at the recent PSAC Indoor Championships. She was named the Outstanding Track Athlete at the PSAC Championships.

Sarah Berger of Walsh posted the top time in the preliminaries with a mark of 4:49.90.

Gabby Schultz will compete in the shot put on Saturday.at 6:05 EST. This marks the first time as an indoor qualifier, but Schultz competed a year ago at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. She qualified in both the shot put and discus. She holds Edinboro records for the shot put, weight throw, and discus.
