Hendrick, Fletcher Named to D2Football.com All-American Team

Duo Earn Honorable Mention Accolades

EDINBORO, Pa. – A pair of Edinboro football players have been named to the D2Football.com All-America Team. Cornerback Zuril Hendrick and running back Walter Fletcher were named honorable mention All-Americans. It marks the second All-American team this year for Hendrick, who was previously named a second team D2CCA All-American. Fletcher, meanwhile, is a repeat selection to the D2Footballl.com squad after earning honorable mention accolades last year.
 
Ferris State's Jayru Campbell was selected the D2Football.com Offensive Player of the Year, with Markus Jones of Angelo State named the Defensive Player of the Year. Valdosta State's Kerwin Bell earned Coach of the Year homors.
 
Hendrick, a 6'1" senior, finished seventh on the team in tackles with 57, but his specialty was interceptions.
 
After leading Division II in interceptions a year ago with nine, he finished with a team-leading seven this year. That figure ranked first in the PSAC and third in Division II in interceptions per game. He had a team-high 10 passes broken up, and ranked third in the PSAC and 11th nationally in passes defended. Hendrick also served on kick returns, averaging 22.2 yards on five kickoff returns and 5.9 yards on nine punt returns.

Hendrick's seventh pickoff came in his final career game vs. Kutztown. It was the 21st of his career, breaking the career record of 20 held by Chris Avery. He finished his career with 51 passes defended. He also broke the career record for return yards on interceptions with 344.

A Lindy's Sports College Football National 2018 Preview second team preseason selection and a College Football America 2018 Yearbook choice, Hendrick earned All-American honors as a junior and senior. He was a first team Don Hansen Football Gazette All-American selection in 2017 and was a first team Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region I honoree. He was a 2018 first team D2CCA All-Super Region I honoree after earning second team honors in 2017.
 
Fletcher was one of 37 nominees for the 2018 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year. He was named the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year and earned first team All-PSAC West honors for the second straight year. In addition, he was a first team D2CCA All-Super Region 1 honoree for the second straight year.
 
A 5'10", 192 lb. running back, Fletcher ended the regular season ranked second in the PSAC and fourth in Division II in rushing. He finished the year with 1,624 yards rushing, the sixth-highest season total at Edinboro, on 266 carries, which is fifth in a season. He scored 17 TDs, tied for fourth in a season and ranking 13th in Division II. He ranked third in the PSAC and sixth in Division II in yards rushing, and was second and fifth, respectively, in yards per game.
 
In addition, the redshirt junior ranked third on the team in receiving with 30 catches for 249 yards. He led the PSAC and ranked eighth in Division II in all-purpose yards (170.27 ypg.). He finished the year with 1,873 all-purpose yards, which ranks fourth in a season. His 102 points scored is tied for fifth in a season.
 
Fletcher ran for over 100 yards in nine games and now has 19 career 100-yard games. His top effort was a school-record 328 yards on just 21 carries with 4 TDs vs. Seton Hill. The following week, he ran for 243 yards at Clarion. Over his last five games, he totaled 1,021 yards. He now holds five of the top 13 single-game rushing totals.
 
He also had Edinboro's first-ever 100/100 game with 111 yards rushing and 109 yards receiving vs. Gannon, catching a career-high 7 passes.  

A year ago, Fletcher set Edinboro's season rushing record with 1,740 yards with 18 TDs. From a career standpoint, he now has 3,913 career rushing yards, good for third all-time at Edinboro. He ranks fourth in career rushing attempts with 632, and is just one touchdown rushing behind career leader Larry Jackson with 41 TDs. He has already set the school record with 288 career points. In addition, Fletcher's 93 career receptions is a school record by a running back. Finally, he ranks third in career all-purpose yards with 4,605.

Fletcher was named to a pair of preseason All-American teams after being a consensus All-American in 2017. He was selected to the Street & Smith's preseason All-American team and was a second team Lindy's preseason All-American. In 2017, he was a consensus All-American, earning second team Associated Press Division II All-American honors, along with second team D2CCA and Don Hansen Football Gazette accolades, and honorable mention D2Football.com honors. In addition, he earned first team D2CCA and Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region 1 honors.
