Parsons, Wefing Selected for NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Edinboro outdoor track & field teams will have a pair of competitors taking part in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA has announced the qualifiers for the national championships, with Stefanie Parsons (Acton, Ont./Christ the King) representing the women's team and Corey Wefing (Maple Springs, N.Y./Maple Grove) qualifying for the men.

Both Parsons and Wefing will compete in the 1,500-meter run, and both have previously earned All-American honors. The championships will be held May 23-25 at the Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will serve as the host for the championships.

Parsons has enjoyed an outstanding season and looks to add All-American honors outdoors after finishing sixth in the one-mile run at the indoor national championships. She was named the PSAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Track Athlete of the Year after being named the 2018 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year and the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Track Athlete of the Meet.

A freshman in outdoor track, she won both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs at last weekend's PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She ranks 12^th in the 1,500 in Division II with a time of 4:25.91. She also was provisional qualifier in the 5,000 (33^rd) and the 800 (38^th).

Wefing, meanwhile, looks to repeat as an All-American in the 1,500 after earning second team honors a year ago with a ninth place finish. He won the 1,500-meter run for the second time at last weekend's PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The senior also earned All-PSAC honors in the 800-meter run with a third place showing after previously winning the 800 three times. He owns the 14^th-best time in Division II at 3:46.84.
