Fighting Scots With Three Contests In The Span Of Four Days

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro men's tennis team will open its home schedule at the Westwood Racquet Club with three contests in the span of four days this weekend. The Fighting Scots host Hillsdale College at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, followed by a match at home against Ashland at 3:45 p.m. the next day. The Fighting Scots will then host Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday, February 11, at 11:45 a.m.

Edinboro is currently ranked third in the ITA Atlantic Region Poll. The Fighting Scots come into this stretch of matches with a 1-0 record as they opened up their spring season with a 4-3 victory over Walsh last Saturday.

Nils Plutat and Tommy Hsu would get Edinboro off to a fast start as they would win the first doubles match 6-4. Walsh would then take an early 1-0 lead as they would take the next two doubles matches. Edinboro would come out swinging in the singles matches, as the Fighting Scots would go on to win the first four. Plutat and Hsu would lead the Fighting Scots, as Plutat won his match in three sets and Hsu won his in two. The freshman tandem of Ruben Acuna and Kaio Sacchi would keep the winning going as Acuna would win his match in two sets and Sacchi would also win his in two.

Hillsdale will kick off its spring portion of the schedule on Friday, February 7, as they travel to Mercyhurst to take on the Lakers. Ashland comes into Sunday's match with a 3-0 record, with wins over Carnegie Mellon, Oberlin, and Walsh. Roberts Wesleyan has a 1-2 record, as they picked up their first win of the spring season last Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Saint Michael's.
