Edinboro Improves to 6-2 with 5-2 Win over West Liberty

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Edinboro men's tennis team has now split the first two matches of its annual spring trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. after posting a 5-2 win over West Liberty on Sunday. The Fighting Scots are now 6-2 while West Liberty dropped to 1-3.

The Fighting Scots would pick up wins in four singles matches and win the doubles point with a sweep of the doubles matches. Tommy Hsu defeated West Liberty's Anton Schulz, 6-1, 6-2, at number two singles. Bruno Sabio Sbeghen picked up his first win as a Fighting Scot after just becoming eligible recently, defeating Joris Gravoulet by scores of 7-6, 6-2 at number three singles. In a three-set match at number four singles, Kaio Sacchi defeated Gianluca Gerndti, 6-7, 6-1, 10-6. Ruben Acuna would dominate by scores of 6-0, 6-0 over Akira Kawabata in the number five singles match.

In the number one doubles match, Nils Plutat and Hsu would win 6-3, and Sabio Sbeghen and Sacchi would win 6-2 at number two doubles. Chia Chun Chiang and Acuna defeated Schulz and Zarion Jones 6-0 in the number three doubles match.

Edinboro returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 in Hilton Head Island, S.C. facing Chowan.
