EDINBORO, Pa. – The Fighting Scots softball team will take on rival Mercyhurst in a home double-header on Saturday, March 27. These games will serve as the front half of a four game season series between the two Erie County school. Game one is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. with game two to follow with an approximate start of 3:00 p.m.

Edinboro now stands at 3-5 on the season with the same record in PSAC play. Mercyhurst has already played twenty-eight games so far this season and stand at 6-6 so far with the same record in conference. In the all-time history between these two programs, the Fighting Scots hold a 19-8-1 all-time series lead over the Lakers. Edinboro has won the last five meetings between the two programs dating back to April of 2018.

The Fighting Scots have five regular starters hitting over .300 early in the season. First-year Maura Pasquale is hitting .481 so far this season through eight games and has collected thirteen hits. Grad student Lauren Gierlak has been a great lead-off for Edinboro and is hitting .360 with nine hits and seven runs scored. Jolene Teller is hitting .333 with eight hits and six RBI's. Cheyenne Shughart in five games is hitting .357 with five hits in just fourteen at-bats. Mackenzie Quider is hitting .571 after playing in four games. She has collected eight hits in fourteen at-bats so far on the year.

The final two games of the season series between the Lakers and the Fighting Scots are set to take place at Mercyhurst on March 31 at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
