MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Fighting Scots tennis teams each competed against Millersville University in road PSAC action. The men were able to extend their winning streak to eight straight matches as they defeated the Marauders by a 4-3 score. The women fell in a close match by a 4-2 score.
The men's team was able to pick up singles victories from from two through five singles player which includes wins from Ruben Acuna (Palma De Mallorca, Spain/Aula Balear), Thibault Dorval, Gustavo Martins (Sao Carlos, Brazil), and Kaio Sacchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Santo Ivo). In doubles, Edinboro was victorious at number two doubles as the duo of Martins and Dorval were victorious, 6-2. The victory for Edinboro improved their PSAC record to 5-0 and also improved their road record to 2-1 on the campaign. The men's team will next take on PSAC rival Mercyhurst on Saturday, April 17 at Mercyhurst. The match is expected to begin at noon.
The women's team was able to pick up victories from Kaede Tada (Kashiwa, Japan) and Torye Calleja (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek) at the top two singles spots and this duo was also victorious at the number one doubles position by a 6-2 mark. Emily Cevera (Ashtabula, Ohio) was able to win the first set of her match at number five singles and Emily Moczulski (Queens, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) was also victorious in the first set of her match at number six singles.
The women will have a shorter turnaround than the men as they will welcome Clarion University on Monday, April 12 for a 4:30 p.m. match.
