EDINBORO, Pa. - Edinboro softball is back in action Wednesday afternoon, April 14, for a doubleheader vs. Gannon University. The two game set will complete the season series between the Fighting Scots and the Knights. Game times are scheduled for 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

The two programs met earlier this season at Gannon on March 24 for a doubleheader in which the Knights were able to defeat Edinboro in both games by a score of 10-4 in game one and 5-3 in game two. Gannon comes into Wednesday's contests winners of nine straight games and hold a 14-8 record overall. The Knights are also 13-5 in the PSAC to begin the season and have won their last ten straight against PSAC opponents.Â
Edinboro is coming off a series split with Slippery Rock University as the Fighting Scots were able to win the second game of each of their doubleheaders against The Rock over the weekend. The team is now 7-9 with an identical record in the PSAC.Â
Lauren Bush (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) was able to pick up two victories on the bump for the Fighting Scots and is now 3-1 to begin her collegiate pitching career.Â
Offensively, Edinboro has been led by shortstop
Maura Pasquale (Zelienople, PA/Seneca Valley)
 who continues her tear at the plate. The newcomer is hitting .491, good for second in the PSAC overall. Pasquale has collected 26 hits, 18 runs, 14 RBI's, and 43 total bases.
Cheyenne Shughart (Shermansdale, PA/West Perry)
 is tied with Pasquale for the team lead in home runs with three and has been a consistent power hitter in the middle of the Edinboro lineup. Shughart is hitting .395 with 17 hits, 13 RBI's, and 28 total bases. Grad student
Lauren Gierlak (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) has continued her strong season for Edinboro, hitting .321 out of primarily the leadoff spot.
After their two game set with Gannon on Wednesday, April 12, the Fighting Scots will enter into a four game season series with IUP on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17. The Friday games will be held in Edinboro, while the Saturday games will be hosted by IUP.Â
