Edinboro men's tennis hosts Bloomsburg in PSAC Tournament match Tuesday

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Edinboro men's tennis team will host Bloomsburg for the second time this season with this time being for the right to advance to the PSAC Championship match. Edinboro has been awarded the number two seed with Bloomsburg qualifying as the three seed. The match will take place on Tuesday, April 27 at 3:00 p.m. at the Edinboro University tennis courts.

Earlier this season, the Fighting Scots hosted the Huskies to kick-off conference play and were able to come away victorious by a 5-2 score. In the match held on March 20, Edinboro was able to win five of six single's matches and the number two double's match. Takahiro Inoue (Osaka, Japan/Yanagawa), Ruben Acuna (Palma De Mallorca, Spain/Aula Balear), Thibault Dorval (Belgium), Gustavo Martins (Sao Carlos, Brazil), and Kaio Sacchi (Sao Paaulo, Brazil/Santo Ivo) were all able to pick up wins in singles competition with the duo of Dorval and Martins picking up a win in number two doubles.

The Huskies come into the match with a 5-2 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the PSAC. They have also been winners of their last five matches. They last suffered a defeat back on March 21 to Mercyhurst and come into Tuesday's showdown with a lot of momentum. One thing working in Edinboro's favor in the PSAC semifinals is Bloomsburg is just 1-2 on the road this season while the Fighting Scots have won four of their five matches held at the Edinboro University tennis courts in 2021.

The Fighting Scots come into the match with an 8-4 record with a 5-1 record in the PSAC and will look to get back in the win column after suffering a defeat to the Lakers of Mercyhurst in their last match, 4-3, back on April 17.

In the last ten meetings between Edinboro and Bloomsburg, the Fighting Scots have gotten the better of the Huskies as they come in winners of eight straight in matches between the two programs.

Edinboro Head Tennis Coach Kody Duncan had this to say about the rematch with the Huskies. "Bloomsburg is a very good team and we are excited for the challenge. We are hoping to capitalize in doubles this time around and have been working hard to improve that aspect of our game."

The winner of Tuesday's match will have the right to play the winner of Mercyhurst and Millersville on Friday, April 30.
