WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Edinboro men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory of PSAC opponent West Chester on Friday, April 9. The women's team lost in a tightly contested affair to West Chester by a 5-2 count.
The men's team continued to prove why they are a force to be reckoned with in the Atlantic Region as they moved to 4-0 in the PSAC and picked up their 12th straight win over the Golden Rams dating back to the 2011 season. Takahio Inoue (Osaka, Japan/Yanagawa), Thibault Dorval, Gustavo Martins (Sao Carlos, Brazil), Kaio Sacchi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Santo Ivo), and Kai Chin Chen (Taipei, Taiwan) all extended their singles win streaks Friday afternoon. At number two singles, Ruben Acuna (Palma De Mallorca, Spain/ Aula Balear) was able to get back in the win column at number two singles.
Dorval, Martins, and Sacchi have now won seven straight singles matches, while Inoue has won six straight. Chin Chen is now up to five consecutive victories in singles contests.
In doubles, the duos of Inoue and Chin Chen, Martins and Dorval, and Sacchi and Jorge Benette (Cerquilho, Brazil/Colegio GradualCerquilho) were able to pick up victories for the Fighting Scots.
On the women's side, first-year Kaede Tada (Kashiwa, Japan) is now a winner of five straight singles matches. She was joined in the win column in singles by fellow first-year Ana Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/AF Americas) who picked up her third career victory. Nadai is now a winner in three of her last four singles contest.
In doubles, Edinboro was able to pick up a victory as the team of Nadai and Marina Zottele ( Sao Jose Dos Campos) won by a 6-4 count in the number two doubles slot.
The men's program will look to mke it eight straight team wins and improve to a 5-0 PSAC mark tomorrow afternoon as they take on Millersville. The women will look for their second PSAC victory of the season as they also square off with the Marauders of Millersville. Both matches are slated for Saturday, April 10 at 12:00 p.m.
