Edinboro softball prepares for Senior Day; Hosts Seton Hill in season finale

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Fighting Scots softball program will host the Seton Hill Griffins on Sunday, May 2 in a PSAC doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. In between contests, the program will honor the team's two seniors for 2021 in Jolene Teller (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia/Mercyhurst) and Lauren Gierlak (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) while also honoring the programs 2020 senior Shannon Gilbert who will get a proper send off from the home crowd on Sunday afternoon.

The Fighting Scots comes into action with a 12-15 record and will look to close the 2021 season strong and take the season series over Seton Hill. Earlier this season, the programs split the doubleheader at Seton Hill held on March 23. Edinboro took the first game of the season series 3-1 while falling in the second game, 4-1.

In 2021, the Griffins are 26-10 overall with a 23-7 mark in the PSAC. They have also traveled well in 2021 and have a 12-4 record away from home. The Griffins have six players hitting over .300 this season and have gotten reliable starting pitching up and down the rotation. Logan Hartman is 10-0 on the bump coming into Sunday's games and will likely get the nod in at least one of the two games.

As for Edinboro, the team continues to several hitters over .300 as Maura Pasquale (Zelineople, PA/Seneca Valley), Cheyenne Shughart (Shermansdale, PA/West Perry), Mackenzie Quider (Sanborn, NY/Niagara Wheatfield), and Gierlak have all swung the bat well in 2021. Though she does not qualify due to not having enough at-bats, Teller has also been a key hitter for the Fighting Scots throughout the season in the middle of the lineup.

In the circle, Macy Sral (Lilly, PA/Penn Cambria) will look to pick up win number eight for the season and currently holds a 7-5 mark on the season.
