EDINBORO, PA- The Edinboro Men's & Women's Tennis teams will host Allegheny College on Sept. 8, at 4 p.m. This will be the men's first match of the season as they look to start off in the win column. It will be the women's second match of the season as they defeated Grove City 7-0 Monday, Sept. 6.
HIGHLIGHTS LAST TIME OUT
Women's Team
-The women's team began the season on Monday, Sept. 6, with a clean sweep over Grove City 7-0
-Vidisha Pallamreddy, Anisha Thada, Marina Zottele, Kaitlin Toth, Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai were all victorious in singles and doubles matches
-The women's team ended last season by defeating Daemen College 4-3
-In the final match of the year Marina Zottele achieved her fourth win of the year
-Ana Nadai also closed out the year by getting her fifth win of the season
-Anna Zak picked up her second win of the year in the finale against Daemen College
-In doubles, Marina Zottele & Ana Nadai came away victorious, 7-5
Men's Team
-This will be the men's first match of the season as they look to start off in the win column
-Coach Kody Duncan is excited about the upcoming season for the men's team, as they bring back their young core of PSAC champions
-The men's team is fresh off a PSAC championship season that was only five months ago, when they defeated Mercyhurst 4-2
-The men's team finished in third place overall in the Atlantic Region
-They also were ranked 47th in the nation in the Oracle ITA National Rankings
-Takahiro Inoue, Ruben Acuna, and Gustavo Martins of the men's team were all ranked in the top 20 of the Atlantic Region for singles
-Takahiro Inoue, Ruben Acuna, and Gustavo Martins were also selected for the PSAC Men's All-Conference First Team for singles
-Gustavo Martins had also won men's freshman of year honors
-Thibault Dorval and Gustavo Martins were named PSAC Men's All-Conference First Team for doubles.
-Kaio Sacchi was selected for the PSAC men's All-Conference second team for singles
ALLEGHENY SCOUTING REPORT
Women's Team
-Allegheny came away with a win in their season opener against Washington & Jefferson with a 7-2 victory
-The Gators doubles sweep is what gave them momentum throughout the match
-Ella Swan/Jean-Arlette Legrand won their doubles competition 8-4
-Sabrina Rodriguez/Allison Riley also defeated their doubles competitors 8-4
-Katherine Stancil/Taylor Hayes were victorious in their matchup by winning 8-7 (7-3)
-Sabrina Rodriguez, Katherine Stancil, Allison Riley, and Noelle Kidd were all victorious in singles competition
Men's Team
-The Allegheny Men's Tennis team also came away with a win in their season opener against Washington & Jefferson with a 9-0 victory.
-The Gators concluded the match with a clean sweep of 9-0
-Two of the double's competitions were won with a score of 8-1 by Adam Shinomiya/Benny Gantrish, and Nate Chubb/Guillaume Emiliano Loinard-Gonzalez
-The third doubles match up was played by Anton Hedlund/Julien Voisey who won 8-0
-Anton Hedlund, Wonjoon Cho, Adam Shinomiya, Julien Voisey, Will Jarvie, and Fabrizzio Reategui were all victorious in singles competition
