Edinboro, Pa – The Edinboro men's tennis team will finish this week's road trip with two matches against the East Coast Conference (ECC). On Thursday the Scots match up against Queens College at 11 a.m. and on Friday against St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out
On Tuesday the Fighting Scots took care of business when they defeated Aldelphi University 6-1. In Singles play Edinboro held majority control with five out of six wins. Ruben Acuna won a close one over Gabriel Balestero 6-1, 5-7. Gustavo Martins followed him with a tight win over Reece Farrow 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (5).
Up next Thibault Dorval got past Pietro Sole 6-0, 3-6, 6-1. Kaio Sacchi finished off Luke Attride-Stirling 6-3, 6-3. In the final singles match Maksymilian Braziewicz defeated Thiago Negrao 6-4, 6-1.
In Doubles play Edinboro was victorious in two of the three matches, as they clinched the doubles point respectively. The duo of Braziewicz and Dorval bested Sole and Arce-Lema, 6-4. Following them, Acuna and Sacchi defeated Farrow and Goupil-Maier, 6-2.
The win increased Edinboro's streak to four in a row, as the Scots are clicking at a perfect time with only 10 matches remaining in the regular season.
Statistical Leaders
With eight matches under their belt Ruben Acuna leads the team in Singles play with a perfect (8-0) record.
Acuna is followed by Thibault Dorval who holds a (5-2) record in Singles and has won his last three straight.
Gustavo Martins is the third Scot who currently holds a winning record in Singles play as he is (5-3).
In Doubles play Dorval leads Edinboro with a (6-2) record, as he has teamed with Maksymilian Braziewicz, Kaio Sacchi, and Takahiro Inoue.
Edinboro's best duo so far this season has been Acuna and Sacchi who have a perfect (4-0) record when they team up.
Queens Scouting Report
Queens College is a member of the ECC conference out of the Atlantic Region. Queens currently holds a (2-4) overall record and have won two of their last three matches. In their previous match against Bentley University, Queens bested their opponent with a final score of 6-1. The Knights swept doubles and won all but one match in singles play. Queens is led by Mariano Bibiloni who is (3-2) in singles play this season.
St. Thomas Aquinas Scouting Report
St. Thomas Aquinas is also a member of the ECC conference out of the Atlantic Region. St. Thomas currently holds a (6-1) overall record and have won two of their last three matches. In their previous match against Adelphi University, St. Thomas defeated their opponent with a final score of 5-2. The Spartans won all but one in Singles play but dropped the doubles point. Edward Simo came away with both a doubles and singles victory.
