Edinboro, Pa -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will hit the road this weekend with matches against PSAC opponents Bloomsburg and Kutztown. On Friday Edinboro will take on the Huskies of Bloomsburg and Golden Bears of Kutztown on Saturday. The Fighting Scots go into the weekend owning the top spot in the PSAC conference with an (9-5) overall record and (3-0) in conference play.
Statistical Leaders
With fourteen matches completed and four to go, the Fighting Scots are beginning to heat up as they have won four straight.
Ruben Acuna leads the Scots in Singles play with a (13-1) record.
Acuna is followed by Thibault Dorval who was recently selected as the PSAC Tennis Athlete of the Week. Dorval holds an (8-4) singles record on the season.
The fire power continues with Bruno Sabio and Gustavo Martins who are both (9-5) in Singles. Sabio currently owns the longest winning streak on the team with five straight victories.
Kaio Sacchi has been heating up lately by winning his last three while holding a (7-6) singles record.
Despite their recent loss, Edinboro's best duo so far this season has been Acuna and Sacchi who are (9-1) when they team up together in doubles.
Dorval and Maksymilian Braziewicz follow with a (9-2) doubles record.
Last Time Out
Last Sunday the Scots picked up their fourth straight win after they swept non-conference opponent Fairmont State University 4-0.
Edinboro gained the upper hand early as they clinched doubles with two of three match wins. The duo of Rocco Palombarini and Bruno Sabio got past Bartosz Losiak and Elia Barozzi 6-3. Thibault Dorval and Maksymilian Braziewicz helped clinch doubles for the Scots as they defeated Seena Saadevandi and Alex Stacy 6-1.
In singles Edinboro continued their dominant trend as they won three straight matches ultimately clinching the win. Sabio defeated Losiak in a close one 1-6, 7-6, 6-4. Up next Ruben Acuna took down Barozzi 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. Gustavo Martins concluded the match with his 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Saadevandi.
Bloomsburg Scouting Report
Bloomsburg is a member of the PSAC conference out of the Atlantic Region. The Huskies currently hold a (3-8) overall record and are (1-1) in conference play. Bloomsburg sits in fourth place in the PSAC and has dropped three out of their last four matches. In their recent match, Bloomsburg fell to Bucknell University 2-5.
Kutztown Scouting Report
Kutztown is a member of the PSAC conference out of the Atlantic Region. The Golden Bears currently hold a (2-3) overall record and are (0-2) in conference play. Kutztown sits in last place in the PSAC and has dropped their last two matches. In their recent match, The Golden Bears fell to Millersville 2-5. Kutztown is led by Sebastian Arizpe who has two singles victories so far this season.
