Men’s Tennis Takes on Third Ranked Barry for NCAA Sweet-Sixteen

Altamonte Springs, Fl -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will compete in the sweet sixteen round of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships. No. 14 Edinboro will match up against No. 3 Barry University on Wednesday May 18 at 12 p.m. 

#14 Edinboro by the Statistics 
-Edinboro comes into the match with a (15-5) overall record and have won ten straight matches. 

-The Scots secured their sweet-sixteen bid when they defeated Bluefield State in the regional round back on May 10. 

-Prior to regionals, Edinboro defeated Mercyhurst for PSAC conference championship for the second consecutive year. 

-Ruben Acuna leads the Scots in Singles play with a (18-1) record while winning his last nine in a row. Acuna earned a key singles win over Bluefield State that helped the Scots secure the match win. 

-Bruno Sabio is another Fighting Scot who has been riding a hot streak as of late. Sabio has won his last ten matches including one over Bluefield State that clinched the match. 

-In doubles, the duo of Acuna and Kaio Sacchi are (13-2) on the season. 

#3 Barry Scouting Report 
-Barry University is from Miam, Fl and is a part of the Sunshine State Conference. 

-The Bucs come into the match with a (18-5) overall record 

-Barry was ranked as the second-best team in the nation by the NCAA, prior to the postseason.  

-In their previous match against No. 11 West Florida, the Bucs defeated the Argonaut's 4-0.
