Lock Haven, Pa. – The Edinboro men's basketball team was selected ninth in the annual PSAC West Preseason Coaches' Poll announced by the conference office on Thursday.
The Scots will have a new look entering the 2023-24 season with first-year head coach
Justin Jennings taking over the program. Edinboro will also be looking to replace their top three scorers from last year's squad that finished the season 7-20 overall and 5-17 in PSAC play.
Will Taylor is the Scots top returning scorer. Taylor missed a chunk of last season with an injury, but averaged 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Jack Gallagher also returns after playing in all 27 games with 23 starts scoring 7.5 points and dishing out 3.8 assists per game.
IUP was picked atop the coaches' poll with five first-place votes. California (PA) was second with the other four first-place votes. Mercyhurst, Slippery Rock, UPJ, Seton Hill, Gannon and Clarion rounded out the poll ahead of the Scots.
Edinboro opens the season on Friday, Nov. 10 when they take on West Virginia Wesleyan at the Fairmont State Crossover Challenge. The first home contest for the Scots in Nov. 21 when they play host to Roberts Wesleyan at 6 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
