Bloomsburg, Pa. – Gordan Mileusnic and Fabricio Sosa won a 9-8 decision over
Bruno Sabio and
Rocco Palombarini to win the 2023 PSAC Doubles Championship Monday afternoon in Bloomsburg.
Mileusnic and Sosa started their run to the final with an 8-4 victory over Lucas Henke and Brady Burns of West Chester. In the semis they topped Zach Pernia and Dylan Tull of Millersville 8-2.
Sabio and Palombarini opened with an 8-5 win over Justin Gincauskas and Sebastian Arizpe of Kutztown. Then they scored an 8-6 victory over Colm Schultz and Danylo Rekun of Mercyhurst.
The Scots also pushed two singles players to the semifinals with one reaching the championship match.
Gustavo Martins rallied in his opening match against Yuto Shimotsuji of Shepherd falling in the first 7-6 before winning the second 6-4 and the third 10-4. He advanced to the semifinal with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Lukas Cabue of Mercyhurst.
Thibault Dorval opened his tournament with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Bloomsburg's Denis Dementev before taking care of Tull 6-0, 7-6 in the quarters.
Martins would top Dorval in the semifinals 6-3, 6-3 but would fall to Rekun 7-5, 6-4 in the final.
