Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will continue their home stretch this weekend beginning with Salem University on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Then on Sunday the Scots will remain at home when they host Carnegie Mellon University at 1:00 p.m.
Last Match
The Edinboro men took care of business last Friday during their season opener against Walsh University. The Scots ended their two-game losing streak against the Cavaliers with a strong 6-1 match win.
In doubles the region's second-best duo in Rocco Palombarini and Bruno Sabio held on in a close 7-5 win. Manav Sreekumar and Thibault Dorval cruised to a 6-2 win in their first run of the season. Finally, Kaio Sacchi and Ruben Acuna would clinch the doubles sweep with their 6-2 win.
In singles the Scots fell one match short of a clean sweep. As the two number one's battled Edinboro's Sabio fell short to Luis Hernandez 6-4, 6-3 in his first singles match of the season.
The five remaining singles matches would make up for the Scot's five final points. Acuna and Dorval handled their match ups smoothly with 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2 wins.
Finn Unger earned a win in his freshman debut with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Medina Puigmarti.
Sreekumar and Gustavo Martins each pulled out tiebreaker wins to clinch the victory for Edinboro. Sreekumar advanced with a 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 win and Martins advanced with a 6-4, 7-6, (5) win.
Salem
The Salem University Tigers are an independent team that competes at the division II level in the NCAA. The Tigers are led by Head Coach Dennis McNaboe. Salem will head north early this weekend to begin their season at Mercyhurst on Friday, before Edinboro on Saturday.
The Scots are (3-0) all-time against the Tigers. Last time they competed was back in 2021 when Edinboro defeated Salem 6-1.
Carnegie Mellon
The Carnegie Mellon Tartans are a division III team from the University Athletic Association and are led by head coach Mike Belmonte. The Tartans enter the match as the 23rd best team in the nation for NCAA division III. Carnegie Mellon will kick off their spring season at Duquesne University on Friday.
Edinboro will look to earn a second-consecutive win over Carnegie Mellon after last year's 4-3 win in Pittsburgh.

After this weekend's slate, Edinboro will compete in their first road match when they face LeMoyne College on Feb. 17 at noon.
