Men’s Tennis Set for Homestand This Weekend

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will host another action-packed weekend at home with two matches on the schedule. On Friday, the Scots will welcome Frostburg State University for a 7 p.m. match start. On Sunday, Edinboro will finish up the weekend with Daemen College. Sunday's match will begin at 4 p.m.

Last Time Out
In their previous match the Edinboro men fell to Lemoyne College with a 5-2 final. In doubles, the duo Ruben Acuna and Kaio Sacchi came up with Edinboro's lone match win. Acuna and Sacchi routed Fabian Sjokvist and Xavier Branagan of Lemoyne 6-2.

In singles the Dolphins held their edge by earning four singles victories to add to their doubles point. For Edinboro, Manav Sreekumar and Finn Unger would earn two singles victories. Sreekumar's match was decided by an extra set and Unger won by opponent retirement.

Edinboro
The Edinboro men enter the weekend with a (3-1) overall record and sit at the top of the PSAC standings with the best non-conference record.

In four matches played, Sreekumar leads the Scots in singles with a perfect (4-0) record. Acuna and Sacchi are tied with Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini for the team lead in doubles. Both teams are (3-1) this season.

Frostburg State
The Frostburg State Bobcats are from the Moutain East Conference and are led by head coach Jeff Splinter. The Bobcats are (1-3) overall after their recent 2-5 match loss to Mercyhurst last Sunday.

German Diaz is a notable threat for the Scots as he is Frostburg's #1 singles player. Earlier this season Diaz completed a resounding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kutztown's Gonzalo Barcelo. This will be the first ever match between both Edinboro and Frostburg.

Daemen
The Daemen Wildcats belong to the East Coast Conference and are led by head coach Richard Greco Jr. The Wildcats are (1-6) overall and (1-3) so far this spring season. In their most recent match, Daemen fell to Mercyhurst in a clean 7-0 sweep.

Phillip Vance and Zachary Laplante lead the team with two wins in singles this season. In the head-to-head battle, the Scots hold a dominant edge with seven wins and zero losses to the Wildcats.

Headed South
After this weekend, Edinboro will begin their road trip that consists of five matches in seven days. The road trip begins on March 3rd when Edinboro goes head-to-head with Davis & Elkins College in Buckhannon, WV.
