Men’s Tennis Continues Homestand

Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will continue their homestand with back-to-back matches this weekend at the Westwood Racquet Club. The Scots will host Shepherd on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, Edinboro will host nationally ranked Fairmont State at 4 p.m.

Last Time Out
Last time the Edinboro men were in action was this past weekend when they began conference action at home.

The Scots kicked off PSAC play with a strong sense of urgency. Edinboro came out of the weekend with a perfect (2-0) record.

Edinboro earned a convincing 7-0 win over Kutztown on Saturday to open conference play. On Sunday, the Scots doubled down with another sweep as they defeated Bloomsburg 7-0.

Home Court Advantage
Edinboro continues their homestand in a comfortable spot at home. So far this season the Scots are unbeaten when they host a match, with a perfect (7-0) home record.

Whether it is the indoor Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pennsylvania or the newly refurbished tennis courts on campus, Edinboro has yet to drop a match.

The Scots ironically will play their next four matches at home before going on the road in mid-April.

Singles
In singles the Scots are led by Ruben Acuna. Acuna has a team best (11-1) record in singles play and has won eight consecutive matches.

Acuna is followed by reigning PSAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Bruno Sabio. Sabio has won two straight matches and is (7-5) this season in singles.

Gustavo Martins has won three consecutive matches and is (8-3) this season in singles.

Doubles
The experienced duo of Acuna and Kaio Sacchi continue to own Edinboro's best record in doubles at (9-3).

Behind them is Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini with an impressive (8-4) doubles record.

Edinboro's third duo is made up of Thibault Dorval and Manav Sreekumar. The two teammates are (7-5) this season in doubles.

Shepherd
The Rams of Shepherd University are led by head coach Evan Dokken and sit in fifth place of the conference standings with a (3-5) non-conference record. In their last match, the Rams defeated Western New England 4-3.

Edinboro has won all three of their head-to-head matches with Shepherd. Last season, the Scots defeated Shepherd willingly with a 7-0 final.

The two teams have both competed against one team so far this season in Frostburg State University. Against Frostburg, Edinboro prevailed in a dominant 7-0 win, as Shepherd fell to Frostburg 4-3.

Fairmont State
The Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State University are led by head coach Terry Deremer and are ranked 47th in the nation with a (6-0) non-conference record. In their last match, the Falcons defeated Mercyhurst University 6-1.

Edinboro is (8-2) all time against Fairmont State including their 4-0 win against the Falcons last season.
