Florence, SC. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will conclude their spring break trip with two matches in South Carolina. On Wednesday the Scots will compete against Francis Marion University at 2:00 p.m. On Thursday, Edinboro's trip will come to an end when they battle Limestone University at noon.
Earlier in the Trip
The Edinboro men kicked off their spring break trip earlier this week with two strong wins over two highly talented teams from North Carolina.
On Sunday the Scots took down Division I opponent Queens University of Charlotte 4-3. With Edinboro clinching the doubles point, the Scots only needed three points in singles to earn the victory.
The following day Edinboro matched up with preseason nationally ranked Belmont Abbey College. The Scots once again found themselves in a tight match but would eventually prevail. The Edinboro men won 4-3, in a match where they were trailing early after dropping the doubles point. The Scots persevered in singles by earning four points.
Edinboro
The Edinboro men head into the end of the week with a (7-1) overall record including four consecutive wins and sit at the top of the PSAC standings with the best non-conference record.
In eight matches played, Ruben Acuna leads the Scots in singles with a strong (7-1) record and has won four straight. Thibault Dorval and Finn Unger follow with six wins on the season.
Acuna and Kaio Sacchi are tied with Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini for the team lead in doubles. Both teams are (6-2) this season.
Francis Marion
Francis Marion University is from the Carolinas Conference and is led by head coach Jay Evans. The Patriots are (4-5) overall after their recent 4-3 win over West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Limestone
Limestone University belongs to the South Atlantic Conference and is led by head coach Alan Ferguson. The Saints are (3-2) overall after their most recent match when they defeated Newberry 4-3.
Coming Up
After this week Edinboro will remain idle until they return to campus to host Kutztown University on March 18th as conference action begins.
